Audiology is regulated across the provinces
An audiologist must be registered with the regulator in the province where they practise.
In most provinces the same regulator covers both audiologists and speech-language pathologists. Entry to practice is a master's degree. Audiology is not regulated in Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, though employers there may still ask for provincial registration.
Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) is the national association, not a regulator. Hearing aid dispensing can need a separate licence in some jurisdictions, so we confirm scope with the regulator.
Our process: We confirm registration with the regulator before presenting a candidate and report any conditions. Read more on our credentialing and compliance page.

What is the difference between an audiologist and a hearing instrument practitioner?
They are different professions with different education and regulation. Audiologists hold a graduate degree. In British Columbia, hearing instrument practitioners are regulated by the same college as audiologists, but remain a distinct profession. This page covers audiologists. Tell us your situation through the candidate or employer form and we will give you a straight answer, with no obligation.
Do you place audiologists on locum and contract?
Yes, where employers have openings. Tell us your province, preferred setting and availability, and we will let you know what fits. Arrangements depend on the employer and on your registration in the province of work. Tell us your situation through the candidate or employer form and we will give you a straight answer, with no obligation.
Can I work in more than one province?
You must be registered in each province where you practise. Check with each regulator for current requirements, including any temporary or other registration options, before you accept a role that crosses provincial lines. Tell us your situation through the candidate or employer form and we will give you a straight answer, with no obligation.
Are audiologists and SLPs regulated by the same college?
In most provinces one regulator covers both, for example the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. In British Columbia both are regulated by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. Each province sets its own rules.
Does it cost anything to submit my profile?
No. Free for candidates. Always. We are paid by the facility, never by you. You can submit your profile, talk through roles and decide on introductions without paying anything at any stage, and there are no placement fees or hidden charges on your side.
What do you do with my personal information?
We use it to match you with roles and verify registration, with your consent, and we follow Canadian privacy law. Nothing is shared with an employer without your permission, and you can ask us what we hold about you at any time. Read the details in our Privacy Policy.
