CAMRT certification and provincial regulation
The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) runs entry-to-practice certification for MRTs, including a pathway for internationally educated MRTs. Regulation is not uniform, and provincial rules are still changing in places. Check current status before you apply.
| Province | Who regulates MRTs |
|---|---|
| Alberta | Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists |
| Saskatchewan | College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Professionals of Saskatchewan |
| Ontario | College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario |
| New Brunswick | New Brunswick Regulatory College of Medical Radiation Technologists |
| Nova Scotia | Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiations Therapy Professionals |
| British Columbia | Radiation therapists are scheduled to become regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC on November 29, 2027. Imaging disciplines are not yet regulated. |
Regulated provinces rely on CAMRT certification. We verify certification and registration where required before submitting a candidate. We do not guarantee outcomes.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need CAMRT certification to work as an MRT in Canada?
CAMRT certification is the national entry-to-practice credential, and regulated provinces rely on it. Some provinces also require registration with a provincial regulator. Check the regulator for the province where you will work before you apply.
Is sonography included?
Sonography has its own credentialing through Sonography Canada and is regulated in only a few jurisdictions. It is not one of the four CAMRT disciplines covered here. Confirm what applies in your province before applying, and tell us what you hold when you submit a profile.
Do you place radiation therapists?
Yes, where cancer programs need coverage. Share your certification, region and availability when you submit your profile. In British Columbia, radiation therapists are scheduled to become regulated on November 29, 2027, so check the current status there.
Can I work in another province?
You register with that province's regulator where required. Rules differ by province and are still changing in places, so check current requirements with the destination regulator first. We can talk through where your discipline and certification may fit.
Can internationally educated MRTs work in Canada?
Through CAMRT assessment and provincial registration where required. We cannot certify you, and we do not guarantee outcomes, but we can point you to the right starting point and talk through opportunities once your credentials are in place.
Does it cost anything to submit my profile?
No. It is free for candidates. Always. We are paid by the facility, never by you. You will not be asked for a fee to submit your profile, to be introduced to departments or to accept a role.
Right modality, right MRT
